All Kidding Aside, A Facebook Printer From HP.

<img style="float: right;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/facebook_logo.gif"}}" alt="" />

The article notes that whilst an initial suggestion by web writer Anil Dash on Twitter was intended as a joke, the idea of a HP and Facebook printer “is a great idea” and better than the social network’s new attempts at making a mobile phone.

The most obvious company, Business Insider states, to manufacture the device would be HP, as the company “needs to reverse the slide” in its printer division’s profits, and “making it dead-simple to print photos” would allow the OEM to “do something – anything – useful with its WebOS operating system”.

Facebook meanwhile “is getting the blame for the trend of consumers looking at photos online rather than printing them”, and alongside its purchase of photography application Instagram, the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg “needs to guard his dominant position in photo sharing”.

Business Insider adds that HP “already makes Facebook-enabled printers”, as its touchscreen MFPs have a Facebook print app, but that “it’s not very good”, and so “the solution seems simple: an HP printer with prominent Facebook branding, and input from Facebook on the design of the app and the integration with its social network”.

The article goes on to suggest that readers “imagine a printer-optimized version of Facebook’s Camera app that lets you print not just your own Facebook photos but your friend’s photos, too” and adds that “grandparents would snap these printers up” as well.

An added option could be a “personalized, printed newspaper of articles your friends are sharing” on Facebook, with a commercial angle suggested whereby Facebook and advertisers could “entice people to print [articles] – ads and all – by giving them an option to take full-page printed ads in exchange for free ink and paper”.

The site notes that a Facebook printer “could be a killer way to deliver” adverts in a money-making manner for the social network, mentioning that “HP doesn’t mind who’s footing the bill for its high-margin ink cartridges, as long as someone’s paying”.

Advice to ensure you succeed in a new role

<img style="float: right;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Job-Interview.jpg"}}" alt="" width="183" height="164" />

The challenges of starting a new job can be stressful. However, it’s often how you manage those challenges that determine if you’ll thrive in a new role. But how?

According to Huw Hilditch-Roberts, director of the Institute of Consulting, success depends on two things: fitting in and getting on.

‘Fitting in’ is about the relationships you build at work, enabling you to find out who to go to for information and who best to ask for constructive feedback, which can in itself open doors and create opportunities. To fit in, you should always be aware of the culture and language of the people you will be working with and show them that you can adapt to the way they do things.

‘Getting on’ is all about being able to deliver – confirming the company’s view that you are the right person for the job.

Hilditch-Roberts offers his top ten tips for anyone who has recently started, or is just about to start, a new role.

1. CONTACTS: Find out which contacts in your office can help you do your job better. Start by asking your employer which staff are your best points of contact for information then get in touch with them to introduce yourself and let them know they have been recommended as good contacts within the office. That way, if they can think of someone else as a good contact they can point you in their direction, allowing you to start building up a chain of office contacts.

2. OPEN: Be open to all social invitations and make an effort to join in with every social activity or event. It’s not just about what you enjoy doing but what social events are available for you to take advantage of in getting to know your colleagues better. Don’t be shy about asking if you can join a group for lunch or evening drinks – if they haven’t invited you, it’s not because they don’t want to but that they just aren’t used to including you in their plans, yet. Making the first move proves that you want to be included and are open to invitations, which will encourage your colleagues to make them and get to know you better.

3. NEEDS: Help people get to know your needs and preferences in the work environment. As you’re fitting into the office and getting to know your colleagues, make sure that they are also getting to know you. Be prepared to adapt if you are at odds with the rest of the office but otherwise just letting people know your preferences is a good way of avoiding future arguments.

4. SCHEDULE: Create a plan to build on your initial networking. After making initial contact with colleagues, you should really have a mutually beneficial scheme set up to follow your introduction to them and establish firmer working relations. Offering them something that they might be interested in or need is a good way to keep the pro quo going and ensure you and they are linked by mutual benefit.

5. UNDERSTANDING: Ask for feedback on how you’re doing so you understand what, if anything, needs to be improved or changed. A standard company induction usually covers the basics so, to get more information and a clearer understanding of your office’s underlying culture, you really should get feedback from your colleagues for an ‘insider’s view’ on how you are working compared to how the company or office works as a whole.

6. LEADERS: Who are the leaders in your company / office? Ask colleagues who they know as one to get things done as these ‘movers and shakers’ can help you understand what is needed to achieve success within your new company. Essentially, these individuals have already done just that and are now recognized as leaders within the office.

7. TEACHERS: Find a good coach to help you in achieving your goals. It’s not a sign of weakness to have a coach supporting you in reaching your business performance objectives these days. Rather, it is an essential part of ensuring you are ‘on the map’. Although it may be better to have someone neutral outside the company coach you, anyone who has a good knowledge of your company and understanding of its business can help provide the insight you need to get ahead.

8. INDICATORS: Set out personal and business key performance indicators (KPIs) that you can achieve within a realistic time frame. Having your own KPIs keeps you on track and you should revisit them every few weeks to ensure you are continuing to focus on what is most important to you within your new role. As your understanding of the role develops you may find that some KPIs are unreasonable – the important thing to do in this situation is to renegotiate them as soon as possible.

9. NEW APPROACH: An outsider perspective can give new insight into things your colleagues take for granted. This can be a good way of identifying quick wins – employers want to see an almost immediate return on their investment in you and identifying opportunities for quick wins can raise your profile significantly. Ideally, you should aim to deliver something of value within your first ten days, positioning you as a fast worker with plenty to offer.

10. GENUINE: Be realistic. Starting a new job is hard work and you will face a number of unknown challenges in the first few days alone, so no-one expects you to be a super hero. Rather than beat yourself up about any mistakes you might make, take a look at your successes so far. Make time for yourself. Your needs are genuinely as important as the company’s.

<img style="float: right;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/heaset.jpg"}}" alt="" width="262" height="155" />

A resent study unveils that UK office workers have seen considerable reductions in shoulder and back pain by wearing telephone headset for making calls.

In accordance to the resent research carried out by Plantronics and a European College of Chiropractic, over a four weeks period, 50 % of the participants who encountered headaches and neck ache at the start off of the study 44% and 54% correspondingly revealed that they no longer encountered any pains. This study also revealed a lowering in upper back and shoulder pain, with a decrease in the amount of days for the duration of which they encountered the pain and their pain levels.

The demands of modern day office staff working environments and procedures can lead to increases in health and fitness problems at work, in particular back pain and musculoskeletal difficulties (which includes neck and shoulder pain) which are frequently acknowledged as being among the leading three causes of prolonged term of sickness absence of European and UK workers which cost approximately 2.5% of UK GDP around £13 billion every single year in treatments and benefits including lost production.

A leading Doctor at the National UK charity BackCare states that: “We see numerous UK office workers with back and acute neck problems which can be prevented by taking straightforward measures at the workplace – like using a telephone headsets for calls and obtaining ergonomic desks and chairs.
The amount of time expended on audio conference calls is in the increase, resulting in today's current UK office-based professional spending additional hours on the telephone than previously. Combined with increases in work intensity in the last few decades throughout Europe, numerous businesses are experiencing problems of absenteeism as staff members are having time off work owing to workplace related ill-health and stress.

“This study illustrates that workers wearing telephone headsets revealed a decrease in neck, Head and shoulder symptoms – typically caused by using a telephone handset and cradling it between the shoulder neck while multi-tasking during calls,” says a researcher from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic. .

There is a measureable risk for any individual using the telephone for as long two or three hours each day by using a telephone headset, telephone related issues can be minimized and possible be eradicated. Furthermore, a wireless telephone headset enables for fluid communications and activities and gives the user a higher overall flexibility of mobility, which means strenuous movements and unpleasant postures, such as cradling the handset in between shoulder and neck, our having to stretch out to reach for items are eradicated.

As important as our personal computers are these days, our computer printers frequently perform the essential duties we want from day to day, and regardless of whether that's creating the perfect report for work or perhaps a stunning print of that photograph you had taken last week, you might need your printer a lot more than you'd actually imagined.

What can you do, though, when it really won't work? Similarly, what happens when you can't get it to operate to all your specifications? It can be at these times that a few awesome printing tips come in handy. From making sure your printer nozzles are clear to selecting the best printer ink cartridge for the job, finding awesome printer techniques is really important to that fantastic document, picture, or assignment each and every time.

Excellent printer tips and hints can be anything at all from how to get more life out of each printer ink cartridge to how to fix smeary looking print outs, and just about anyone who owns a printer has needed such advice at some time or another. A chance to share tips and advice is one of the things that make’s the Internet so awesome. By way of example, if someone else midway across the world uncovered a terrific new method to print black and white documents as black only, they can basically post that tip on the internet, providing you with instant access towards information you may need.

While you sort through the printing tips and hints, though, there are a few things to remember. To Begin With, all printers are made differently. Just because one person figured out that a humidifier was the best way to prevent clogged printing ducts in their Canon PIXMA doesn't mean that it will work in the same manner for your Hewlett Packard DeskJet. Whilst there is no harm in reading about particular tips, trying them out if they involve very seriously modifying to your printer or ink cartridges might be quite serious. You may even want to remember that these are simply tips and hints. In most cases, they are not advice from professionals who handle the equipment with a technical level; therefore it is necessary that you take them at face value.

Office One Plus would like you to share your print tips by email us sales@officeoneplus.co.uk

HP has stated it will increase their printer cartridge prices of its most popular Lines of cartridges in its Business class Laser Printers including HP Multifunction Printers, HP will Increase LaserJet by approximately 2% to 4%. But more significantly HP are to increase the over all list of cartridge prices on over twenty-seven select HP older toner laser cartridges ranging from 12% to 17%. Older legacy printer toner cartridges and consumable products used in “old Legacy” HP Printer Models Like the old ageing HP 4000 and 4100 LaserJet and in the HP Colour LaserJet 4600 models are to name but a good few more are inline for the big increase by HP.

Even though the increase announced will not involve HP inks, HP is raising the prices on selected consumables products like drums, fusers and HP maintenances kits. In accordance to HP, the price increases is only in reaction to international monetary conditions, which also includes currency volatility.

Cash or Christmas Office party

As the offices all over the UK begin decking the walls with Christmas tinsel and organizing for the yearly ‘Office Christmas Bash’, a UK recruitment consultancy has uncovered that most UK office staff would desire a cash lump sum this Christmas around 95%, with just one in 20 5% choosing a good night on the mince pies, mulled and getting up to mischief.

Astonishingly, the survey of around 1,000 UK office staff, uncovered that it was the more youthful generation that would forfeit the office special event for more cash in their pay packets this year, just one in 30 3% choosing that Christmas office party. This was marginally higher for over 50’s with 1 in 15 6% more mature staff keener to get the dancing shoes on let their hair down.

Extra cash in our pay packs was not the only alternate to a office Christmas party that office staff would have a preference for. 9 out of 10 90% stated they would favour a few extra holidays and 73% would favour a present or the opportunity to depart early through the one night of office celebrations

Scottish employees and including North East of England do on the other hand buck that trend with around 10% still eager to have that office Christmas party instead of a cash lump sum. On the other hand, those workers in Yorkshire are the most probably want to grab that extra cash of all the UK regions with pretty much all 98% choosing the cash over the office parties.

“As we move into the New Year and the turning of 2012 and say good bye to 2011, it is significant that businesses pay attention to their workforce and take stock of the rewards they have on offering – pondering if they are genuinely as sought after as once considered. In more restrictive times funds offering gym membership and such events as the office Christmas party for example could possibly have slipped down the checklist of staff member priorities.”

Is this end office nine-to-five working day !

A survey commissioned by a leading UK mobile phone provider showed that 70% of UK managers believe that the outdated concept of ’9 to 5′ doing work is perishing out to give preference to of much more accommodating working agreements, in accordance to a recent survey.

Involving these frontward seeking managers, nine in ten permit their staff members to work more flexibly to some degree, instead of assume them to adhere strictly to conventional operating working hours.

Managers disclosed by themselves to be reasonably open minded regarding how working day is accomplished. Six in ten managers thats around 63% stated that they would not mind staff members carrying out personalized issues like phoning spouse and children or reviewing their social networking sites, providing they complete the working tasks.

A leading employment researcher stated this demonstrates a cultural switch has begun. As many men and women with in the UK and the way we work is transforming. Britain’s managers are acknowledging that thriving businesses must concentrate on producing results, not on keeping track of what the workforce are doing at their workstations.

Trade off at work and personal lifestyle

It is that nearly two thirds of managers 65% consult their workforce to operate outside of conventional workplace hours, from time to time. There is a noticeable variation amongst the private sector, where by almost 70% of managers request extra hours from staff, and the public sector, where 58 per cent do so. Private sector managers ended up being more probably to say that doing the job ot with the typical workplace hours is now expected 15% than their alternatives with in the public sector 8%.

Varying attitudes on the way to working out with the 9 to 5 are also apparent amongst men & women. A lot more females 38.5% than male managers 30.5% stated that they by no means request their staff members to work out with the normal workplace hours. Furthermore, 15.6% of male managers say it’s predicted for staff to work out with of operating hours, in comparison with only 9.8% females.

Of the managers who do request their workforce to work out with working hours, a large majority 93% believe that it is only reasonable that staff members occasionally attend to personalized duties throughout work time, despite the fact that mostly 72.9% with the warning this has to be accomplished in moderation.

A new generation of employees is on its way through the ranks. They prefer desire to operate around their lifestyles instead than the other way about. Individuals today do not mind undertaking some work in the evening hours or even the weekends in return, they expect managers to give them some slack to do individual tasks.

UK Business managers are satisfied for staff members to take personalized Telephone calls, check out social networking websites, book prearranged appointments, and to send personalized emails in the course of working hours, in moderation. Having said that participants attracted the range at employees doing their regular shopping online from the work pace, which close to two thirds 64% took exception to this rule.

Technological innovation at the center of social switch

This survey also revealed that managers take pleasure in the influence of technology on to days modern working behaviour 62% believe the line between work & personal lifestyle has develop into blurry since people started using smartphones and working from home. This was felt more strongly in the private sector 66% than of public sector 55%.

This pattern in the direction of mobile & home working is perfectly established, however it has some way to go. Completely six in ten managers 59% stated that they permit their workforce to work at home to some degree.

On the other hand, only 15% present the workforce with the resources for doing so like as PC laptops, high speed broadband connection and remote access to compaines server, even though just over two fifths 43% of managers depend on employees making use of thier own technology if they request to work at home.

At the moment, only 12% of managers provide their workforce with smartphones as normal, even though around one third 34% give smartphones to a handful of staff members. An additional 15 per cent compensate staff members for making use of their private smartphones.

Working more intelligent, not more complicated has come to be a touch of a cliché, but that is precisely what’s required, and the technological know-how exists to create this a reality. Consequently acquiring ways to successfully harness technological know-how to the advantage of businesses the workforce must be higher on the checklist of priorities for UK managers.

Generation Y on its way through the work ranks

This study demonstrated some of the effect of Generation Y – individuals born just after 1982 – coming up the ranks into managing positions.

Generation Y workforce are commonly recognized as currently being highly associated and technological know-how and literate, not illustrating particular lines involving their work & social lifestyles, and looking for a natural working environment with a smaller amount stringent structures that they can mentally interact with.

Obviously Britain’s businesses have open up to Generation Y methods of working. Nevertheless they still romm to improve and to fully grasp how considerably this changes in working lifestyle & perceptions can reward them.

Dell 5100cn Laser Printer Review

Dell Laser Printer 5100cn review

The Dell 5100cn looks almost lightweight, but it's still large and hefty. It's the most inexpensive printer in the class with an automatic duplex unit fitted at standard and has the best black & white print speed rating. The 5100cn's ordinary 650-sheet paper tray can be upgraded to a massive 2,150 sheets paper tray.

The Dell 5100cn printer needs a little bit of setting up. Before you can start printng.First of all remove all the packing materials from the machine, toner cartridges and paper drawers and lower in the hefty photoconductor unit. The Dell 5100cn has individual drums for each colour, but these are constructed into a one individual consumable unit with a life cycle of up to 35,000 A4 pages.

Uncommonly for a Dell printer, the Dell 5100cn can handle operating systems other than Microsoft Windows. Its installation software made the install and setup easy and presented a choice of mono-only, colour and password-secured colour installs. We weren't able to detect the Dell 5100cn printer over our network and had to create a TCP/IP port for it manually.

Using the PCL driver, the Dell 5100cn created the fastest mono text in its class, out doing the Epson's AcuLaser C2600n and others in its class. We were much less impressed with the final results, although, which were not a solid black and made an appearance of angled lines. Making the Dell 5100cn printer to print only in black mono resolved the issue, doing this is manually is a needless procedure.

PCL illustrations or photos were also unsatisfactory, with colours that were not at suitable levels. PostScript results were far better but took more time. The dell 5100cn is one of the most effective duplex printers of its class, but we couldn't persuade it to print envelopes with the proper orientation and it messed up them horribly.

The Dell 5100cn has the option of using high cap toner cartridges which compatible cartidges are available. The Dell 5100 Compatible Toner Cartridges Specification Manufacturer Part No.: 593-10054, 593-10051, 593-10052, 593-10053 Colour: 4 Colour Multipack Duty Cycle: Approx. 9,000 black / 8,000 colour pages @ 5% average coverage making printing with the Dell 5100cn laser printer in colour and mono cost effective using Office One Print and Inks comptabile Laser Toner cartridges.

Is it suprising 38% of UK office workers would somewhat see office co-worker lose their job to save or improve their personal Salary a market survey has shown.

It was also showed that Coffee and tea was revealed to be much more of a concern in the office than helping the environment or recycling at work, as almost seven in ever ten stated that they would alternatively sacrifice eco-friendly recycling projects than lose the coffee and tea making machine at the office.

The survey, polled 500 UK office staff following concerns of a UK double dip recession released earlier in the week.
Almost half 48% of those office workers that completed the survey reported that could give up their lunchtime breaks only if forced to make an office work sacrifice, even though giving up on cigarette smoke breaks 14%, saturdays and sundays off 12% and company vehicles 8% remained much less popular alternatives.

However a massive 62% of UK office workers showed a more significant level of allegiance by stating they would be more satisfied to take a decrease in their Salary to help save a co workers position.

Many people consider the only way to encourage staff is basically to offer them more income but market research results demonstrate that this view is considerably too simple.
Nearly two thirds of all those UK office staff surveyed said they would be prepared to take a Salary cut to retain another person in the work which demonstrates just how significant a good workforce ethos can be in the work environment. For many people, income is their single inspiring aspect so it’s hardly surprising that over a third of those surveyed stated they would be pleased to see a co-worker dismissed if it could gain them in financial terms.

A Quarter Of UK Workers Expect Email Responses Within An Hour

<img style="float: right;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Email.jpg"}}" alt="" width="142" height="146" />

New email technology is design to speed up response time by e-mailing, creating unrealistic expectations, excessive email, errors, and work-related stress and expensive down time. A survey of office workers in the UK found that 25% of us are waiting for an email response within one hour, more than one third to receive a response within two hours and a two-thirds majority by noon the same day.

The study, conducted by experts in managing e-mails interviewed more than a hundred office workers from a number of large public and private organizations, believing that only a quarter expected a response within a day is acceptable and only seven percent of workers are willing to wait up to two days for a response.

The study also highlighted the fact that expectations for electronic responses are often hypocrites, with our own deadlines for sending email responses.
Our Expert said the results: "This is a worrying trend" e-mails often require a substantive response, data must be collected, the courts referred to, and the sooner we find, as soon as the other person is to expect an answer.

"This survey highlights the need to reduce email overload and make realistic expectations through e-mail in sufficient time to consider a response."

Office One believes that a lot of pressure to get quick answers, is the mind set of the receiver and that many managers are surprised at how quickly people respond to their emails.

The survey also found that 83% of respondents believe that the internal senders expect a faster response to external senders and 87% believe that senior managers are required to respond faster than junior managers.

Director of Development Consultants, a company that controls large email systems and customer loyalty, said. "Many of us now have a BlackBerry or iPhone to make it easier to interact with '24 × 7 '," "As a result, even if you do not answer, the general assumption is that you have read the message no matter when it was sent.
